FRIDAY 210:30: 6hr Walk, Moorland Walk (Norsworthy Bridge) Explore the open moor on this walk into some of the remoter parts of Dartmoor. SATURDAY 312:15: 3hr Walk, Hart Tor Valley (Princetown) SUNDAY 410:00: 6hr Walk, Moorland Walk (Two Bridges) 14:00: 3hr Walk, Kelly Mine (Trenchford Reservoir Car Park, Bullaton Cross) A walk from Trenchford Reservoir takes you to this fascinating working mine. Enjoy a tour as the Kelly Mine Preservation Association carries out their restoration work. An opportunity to discover more about Dartmoor�s mining history. TUESDAY 610:30: 4hr Walk, Bronze, Tin, Peat, Clay, Granite & Man (Ivybridge) WEDNESDAY 720:00: 3hr Walk, Wildlife At Dusk (Trendlebere) Please bring binoculars and do not wear brightly coloured clothing. FRIDAY 910:15: 4hr Walk, Kes Tor & The River Teign (Chagford) A walk of contrasts featuring Kestor's open Moorland and the sheltered valley tracks and lanes along the river Teign. SUNDAY 2510:45: 3hr Walk, Explore Meldon Valley (Meldon Reservoir) 11:00: 4hr Walk, Railways & Quarries (Princetown) The first railway to come out to Princetown was the Plymouth and Dartmoor railway in the 1820's, mainly to haul granite from the surrounding quarries. Discover more on this walk. 21:00: 1.5hr Walk, Megaliths By Moonlight (Merrivale, Four Winds) Please bring a torch MONDAY 2610:00: 6hr Walk, A Beautiful And Impressive Prehistoric Landscape (Fernworthy Reservoir) TUESDAY 2710:45: 2hr Walk, Mystery And Prehistory (Merrivale, Four Winds) 14:00: 3hr Walk, Wayside Marker Stones on Dartmoor This joint walk with by the Dartmoor National Park and the Milestone Society, gives an introduction to the many wayside marker stones that survive on Dartmoor. The main guide is a Dartmoor National Park Guide, familiar with the mineral working on the moor. The local Milestone Society have selected a route that passes by striking wayside crosses, a selection of turnpike milestones and stone boundary markers around the parishes of Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney. During this circular walk we will see large medieval granite crosses and smaller engraved markers that defined the roads over the moor in the 19th century. We will walk along the tracks that were used to carry raw material off the moor and intrepid travellers safely to the markets on the edge of the moor. WEDNESDAY 2811:00: 2hr Stroll, Widecombe Village History (Widecombe-In-The-Moor) Join resident and local radio personality Tony Beard (the wag of Widecombe) on his personal tour of this village one of the most well known in Devon. THURSDAY 2910:00: 4hr Walk, Cranbrook Castle & Teign Gorge (Moretonhampstead) There are three Iron Age forts above the Teign Gorge, this being the most accessible. Discover more on this walk. FRIDAY 3010:45: 4hr Walk, Tinning & Antiquities (Norsworthy Bridge) Tinning has played an important part in how human activity has impacted on Dartmoor, find out more on this walk. SATURDAY 3110:45: 2hr Walk, Hound Tor Medieval Settlement (Hound Tor) The fringes of the High Moor were settled in medieval times, however a significant number were abandoned around the 14th century. Hound Tor is one of the largest and best known deserted medieval settlements on Dartmoor.
