Taste of the West Silver Award
The Bedford Hotel is proud to hold a Silver Award from Taste of the West, in recognition of a commitment to local sourcing, great food and friendly service.
Taste of the West is a unique membership organisation which showcases the quality and diversity of food and drink producers, restaurants, hotels and retailers in the South West, from the farthest tip of Cornwall, through Devon, and including Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
The annual Taste of the West Awards is the largest regional awards programme in the UK, with a team of judges carrying out unannounced visits to member businesses to judge not only the quality and provenance of the food and drink, but just as importantly the warmth of the welcome and the efficiency of the service.
The Silver Award received by The Bedford Hotel acknowledges the hotel’s passion for using some of the very best local produce from Devon’s farmers, fishermen and producers, within a menu which offers everything from a delicious bowl of seasonal soup to a full three course meal.
The Taste of the West judges commented:
“The Thai crab cakes for starters were full of flavour and beautifully crispy on the outside. They came with a delicious coconut foam that had a wonderful texture and flavour, complementing the crab beautifully, as did the homemade lemon curd, adding just the right amount of citrus to cut through the richness of the crab. The Dark Chocolate Fondant was absolutely delicious. It came with a milk chocolate and malt ice cream that was beautifully creamy and not too sweet, balancing the sweetness of the rich chocolate really well. It also came with crumbs of praline and popping candy which added to the whole experience.”
