Car parking is free for guests at The Bedford. You’ll find our spacious car park immediately behind the hotel, and there is direct stair and lift access from the car park to our ground floor Reception. You’ll appreciate that we can’t accept liability for vehicles and their contents left in our car park.
Tavistock Parish Church (St Eustachius) is directly across the road from The Bedford. Other churches in Tavistock include Tavistock Methodist Church, the Catholic church of Our Lady and St Mary Magdalen, the United Methodist Church, and Abbey Chapel.
We would ask that you vacate your room by 11am on the morning of departure. If you would like to depart later, please contact Reception as soon as possible – we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please contact Reception if you require a Doctor. There are GP surgeries nearby for routine situations, and a Minor Injuries Unit at Tavistock Hospital.
Dogs are very welcome at The Bedford (please let us know at the time of booking if you will be bringing a dog with you – for which there is a charge of £10 per dog, per night). In the interest of other guests, we would appreciate it if you didn’t let your dog onto our furnishings and bedding, and we would also ask that you keep your dog on a lead within the hotel grounds. There are lovely riverside walks to enjoy through The Meadows, a short stroll from The Bedford.
If you would like a fan for your room, please ask Reception.
Fax facilities are available at Reception (a charge applies for both incoming and outgoing faxes).
Your safety is our absolute priority, and the hotel is fitted with extensive fire safety systems. We would just ask that you spare a few moments, on arrival, to familiarise yourself with the emergency exit route from your room.
If you need an iron and ironing board, please contact Reception.
Please leave your keys at Reception when you are out – unless you are planning to return after 11pm in which case you will need the outside door key attached to your key fob in order to open the front door.
A full Devon breakfast, and lighter options, are served in our Woburn Restaurant.

Sandwiches, our Brasserie Menu, and daily specials are served in the Woburn Restaurant and in our bar and lounges, from 12 noon until 2.30pm. We also serve a traditional Sunday Lunch.
We serve a full Afternoon Tea in the lounges from 3pm until 5pm. Devon Cream Teas are served all day.

A children’s menu is available on request.
We are always pleased to cater for special dietary requirements (we would appreciate as much advance notice of your requirements as possible). If you have an allergy or food intolerance, please ask a member of staff about the ingredients in any of our dishes.
Please order your newspaper of choice from Reception the previous evening. We’ll deliver it to your room for you in the morning.
We would ask that you settle your account on departure (unless prior arrangements have been made for a corporate account). We accept cash, and most major debit and credit cards (a 2% surcharge applies for American Express). We are only able to accept cheques for pre-payment of accounts, at least 7 days in advance of your stay.
The Post Office is just around the corner from the hotel. Please ask us the way! We can post your letters for you, and stamps are available for purchase at Reception.
We can provide chocolates, Champagne or flowers for your room, to mark your special occasion. Please call us on 01822-613221 to discuss your requirements.
Each bedroom is equipped with a direct-dial phone, and outgoing calls are charged to your room account.
Each bedroom has a TV with Freeview and radio channels. DVD’s are available in some rooms.
In case you’ve forgotten the odd essential, we have basic toiletries available to purchase at Reception.
The bus station is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, and there are frequent services to Plymouth (and less frequent services to Okehampton). There is a taxi rank opposite the hotel, and Reception can book a taxi for you.
You will appreciate that we can’t take responsibility for your personal property. We can, however, store any valuable items in our hotel safe on request.
