Tavistock Canal Walk
If you enjoy a good walk, The Bedford Hotel is the perfect base for a few days of exploring beautiful West Devon, the wide open space of Dartmoor National Park, or the fascinating industrial and social heritage of the Tamar Valley.
For an easy introduction, we'd suggest you check in and drop your bags, and then head for Tavistock's attractive Meadows park for a walk along the tranquil Tavistock Canal which was constructed in the 19th Century to link the town of Tavistock to Morwellham Quay on the River Tamar.
For a full description of this easy walk from The Bedford Hotel, head along to our page on the Visit Tavistock website – Walk Recommendation: Along Tavistock Canal.
For a selection of great Dartmoor walks for most ability levels, we’d also suggest a look at the 10 Adventures website – Dartmoor National Park Walks – or the Walking on Dartmoor Guide put together by Visit Dartmoor.
